Germany AwSV List of published WGK classifications updated

On 24-29 May 2024, the German Ordinance on Facilities Handling Substances That Are Hazardous to Water (AwSV) List of published water hazard class (WGK) classifications was updated. The following substances were newly assigned a WGK:

  1. Cobaltate(2-), ethylenediaminetetraacetate complexes including sodium, potassium and ammonium salts

    WGK 2 (obviously hazardous to water)

  2. 3,4,5,6-tetrachloro-2-(1,4,5,8-tetrabromo-6-hydroxy-3-oxoxanthen-9-yl)benzoic acid

    WGK 3 (highly hazardous to water)

  3. Manganate(2-), ethylenediaminetetraacetate complexes including sodium, potassium and ammonium salts

    WGK 2 (obviously hazardous to water)

  4. Manganese di(acetate)

    WGK 2 (obviously hazardous to water)

  5. Potassium tetrahydroborate

    WGK 2 (obviously hazardous to water)

  6. 2,6-Dihydroxy-3,4-dimethylpyridine

    WGK 3 (highly hazardous to water)

  7. Amine oxides, C12-14-alkyl(hydroxyethyl)methyl, ethoxylated (average MW = 876 g/mol)

    WGK 1 (slightly hazardous to water)

  8. 4-hydroxy-3-methoxycinnamic acid

    WGK 2 (obviously hazardous to water)

  9. [8-[(4-amino-3-nitrophenyl)azo]-7-hydroxy-2-naphthyl]trimethylammonium chloride

    WGK 2 (obviously hazardous to water)

  10. Ozone

    WGK 3 (highly hazardous to water)

  11. Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., calcium salts

    WGK 1 (slightly hazardous to water)
