BPR public consultation launched on 2 active substances

On 27 March 2023, a public consultation under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) was launched for the following active substances as a potential Candidate for Substitution:

1. Formaldehyde released from the reaction products of paraformaldehyde and 2-hydroxypropylamine (ratio 1:1)

   Product type 2 (disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals)

   Product type 6 (preservatives for products during storage)

   Product type 11 (preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems)

   Product type 13 (working or cutting fluid preservatives)

2. Formaldehyde released from the reaction products of paraformaldehyde and 2-hydroxypropylamine (ratio 3:2)

   Product type 2 (disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals)

   Product type 6 (preservatives for products during storage)

   Product type 11 (preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems)

   Product type 12 (slimicides)

   Product type 13 (working or cutting fluid preservatives)

ECHA has launched a 60 day public consultation which closes on 26 May 2023. Interested parties can submit relevant information on available substitutes via the web form on ECHA’s website.
