Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) Regulation Annexes I, IV, and V amended

Annex I to Regulation (EU) No. 2019/1021 on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) has been amended as per Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2291 of 8 September 2022.

Specific exemptions have been added to the following substance:

  1. Hexachlorobenzene

Annex IV and Annex V have been amended as per Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/2400 of 23 November 2022.

The following substances have been added:

  1. Pentachlorophenol, its salts and esters

  2. Dicofol

  3. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), its salts and PFOA-related compounds

  4. Perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and PFHxS-related compounds

The concentration limits of the following substances have been amended:

  1. Alkanes C10-C13, chloro (short-chain chlorinated paraffins) (SCCPs)

  2. Tetrabromodiphenyl ether

  3. Pentabromodiphenyl ether

  4. Hexabromodiphenyl ether

  5. Heptabromodiphenyl ether

  6. Bis (pentabromophenyl) ether (decabromodiphenyl ether; decaBDE)

  7. Polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD/PCDF) and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls (dl-PCBs)

  8. Hexabromocyclododecane
