BPC issues opinions on 6 active substance approvals and 1 non-approval

The Biocidal Products Committee has issued opinions on active substance approvals for the following substances:

1. Ozone generated from oxygen

   Product type 2 (disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals)

   Product type 4 (food and feed area)

   Product type 5 (drinking water)

   Product type 11 (preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems)

2. Sulfur dioxide generated from sulfur by combustion

   Product type 4 (food and feed area)

3. Sulfur dioxide released from sodium metabisulfite

   Product type 9 (fibre, leather, rubber and polymerised materials preservatives)

In addition, a non-approval opinion was issued for the following active substance:

1. Mecetronium ethyl sulphate (MES)

   Product type 1 (human hygiene)
