2 substances under evaluation for IARC Monographs

The following substances are now under evaluation for classification under the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer) Monographs:

  1. Perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS)

  2. Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA)

Since 1971, more than 1000 agents have been evaluated and identified as: Carcinogenic to humans (Group 1), Probably carcinogenic to humans (Group 2A), Possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B), Not classifiable as to its carcinogenicity to humans (Group 3) or Probably not carcinogenic to humans (Group 4).
