European Commission opens consultation to delay PCNS
The European Commission has announced a public consultation on postponing harmonised poison centre notification for hazardous chemical mixtures for consumer use.
Harmonised poison centre notification requires companies to notify the details of their hazardous products, to the national poison centres, to allow efficient and skilled emergency health response.
The draft regulation proposes to postpone the deadline from 1 January 2020 to 1 January 2021.
The public consultation will be closing at midnight (CEST) of 18th August 2019. To date, companies’ responses to the consultation have been supportive of the 1-year postponement. This will allow for more time preparation to notify products, particularly for UK companies where there is still uncertainty regarding Brexit.
