South Korea Regulatory Updates (H1 2020)

NIER update the GHS classification list

National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) published the Announcements to update the GHS classification list:

  • Adding substances into the list: 13 toxic chemical substances (Given No. 2020-1-957~2020-1-969) with corresponding classification information, pictograms, signal words, hazard statements, M factors and UN No.

  • Updating the name or classification of 4 toxic substances (Given No. 97-1-167, 2017-1-772, 2018-1-831, 2018-1-844)

  • Update the concentration limit of 2 toxic substances (Given No. 2018-1-831 and 2018-1-865)

  • Providing Chemical Control Act (CCA) transitional measures (import notification, labelling, off-site impact analysis, business licensing etc) for the newly designated toxic chemicals

MoE consulting on Listing 14 substance as Existing

On the 21st of Jan 2020, Ministry of Environment (MoE) published a public consultation on adding 14 substances into Korean Existing Chemical Inventory (KECI). The KE number of the 14 substances are KE-19-0001 to KE-19-0014.
